At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: 27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, 'I am going away, and I am coming to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me; 31a but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father."
In today’s Gospel (John 14:27-31a), Jesus says: "My peace I give to you; not as the world gives." The world defines peace as the absence of noise or conflict. Jesus defines peace as His presence.
When He says, "Do not let your hearts be troubled," He isn’t ignoring our struggles; He is reminding us of His authority. The "ruler of this world" has no power over Him. As we worship today, let’s shift our focus from our fears to His victory. True worship happens when we surrender our need for control and rest in the peace that only the Prince of Peace can provide.
